ANNUAL REPORT: 1998 Most of the College's library resources are housed in Lane Library which was built in 1930 and expanded in 1974 with the addition of the Todd Wehr Learning Resources Center. The library currently contains over 301,521 items, including more than 160,000 books, 140,000 government publications, 18,200 microforms and more than 700 current periodical subscriptions. ROSLIN: Ripon Online System for Library Information came up in January 1996. It is an Innovative Interfaces Inc.INNOPAC system. The library's collection is enhanced by active participation in WILS (Wisconsin InterLibrary Services) and the Fox Valley Library Council. Consortial arrangements with these groups facilitate interlibrary borrowing, as well as reciprocal on-site borrowing by students in libraries in neighboring towns, including theUniversity of Wisconsin--Oshkosh library. The facilities of the library include more than 300 reader stations, a small computer lab, and the College archives.Photocopying facilities, microform reader/printers, and personal carrels for students who anticipate using the libraryheavily are also available. farquar: The new Library Director (April 1997) assumed the staff was keeping statistics for an annual report and the staff assumed that if the Director wanted to so order, she would say so, so there was no annual report. There is some question as to whether annual reports have or have not been made for the last several years. However, the following circulation statistics were automatically compiled: CIRCULATION ACTIVITY by ITEM LOCATION LOC CHKOUTS CHKINS RENWALS HOLDS Hl/RECLL TOTAL # % BHOLD 0 0 0 11 0 11 0.1% arch 0 0 0 1 0 1 0.0% cdoc 5 5 0 0 0 10 0.1% clstk 2 2 1 0 0 5 0.0% dcd 1 1 0 0 0 2 0.0% doc 16 2 13 0 0 31 0.3% docs 4 0 4 0 0 8 0.1% dpap 34 27 7 0 0 68 0.6% gen 3495 2109 1233 569 25 7431 63.4% juv 163 120 12 0 1 296 2.5% lrg 56 35 17 70 0 178 1.5% lrg+ 1 1 0 1 0 3 0.0% pbk 20 18 7 0 0 45 0.4% perbd 3 2 2 0 0 7 0.1% perrs 88 87 1 0 0 176 1.5% ref 42 20 1 1 0 64 0.5% refat 2 2 0 0 0 4 0.0% resrv 1671 1635 34 1 0 3341 28.5% sf 13 10 3 0 0 26 0.2% zzgen 5 5 0 0 0 10 0.1% TOTAL 5621 4081 1335 654 26 11717 100.0% This does not reflect GPO items classified LC, but the Ref LC does not circulate and the LC stacks items which circulate, mostly predate the 1982 Depository status. Note that cdoc+dcd+doc+docs+dpap =11 % cdoc and doc are transitional categories of unconfirmed holdings; dcd=CD-ROMÕs; dpap and docs are a confusing non-distinction, given that dper and dfche designate non-circulating fiche and periodicals (which are interfiled with monographs), leaving docs only to refer to maps and, perhaps, kits. In practice, dpap and docs have been used interchangeably. I.e. location and format/material have been confused with each other. I am phasing out dpap and will do a mass list correction in the on-line catalog after we have purged our retro records of fat records of material never ordered nor received.Farquar: me Like the adult staff, student workers did not understand the importance of keeping statistics. These are the available check-in totals: MARCH 25, 1997-MARCH 25, 1998 and clearly are under- reported: Number of paper doc: 3068 Number of MF titles: 5686 Number of MF fiche: 12,768 Number of CDÕs: 185 Number of floppies: 30 Terrance G.
