FutureLibCon
Starting in September 2009... Join us for a series of inspiring, thought-provoking, and challenging conversations to explore the future role of the librarian.
About the Series:
The University of Michigan Library is sponsoring a four part series of inspiring, thought-provoking, and challenging conversations to explore the future role of the librarian. Join us as we investigate the changing nature of the learning environment and how it will transform the librarian’s role in the educational process. This series will address four themes: social computing, seamless library services and access, literacy and critical thinking, and assessment. We’ll begin our exploration of each theme with a plenary speaker, an expert who will stimulate our thought and set the stage for further discussion. Following each plenary event, we will hold a series of conversations with faculty, students, and library staff to deepen our understanding of the topic and its impact on library service. The series will conclude in Spring 2010 with a forum to inspire, provoke, and challenge our thinking to move beyond technical tools to new concepts, directions, and models for service and instruction.
