Sumner and Laura Foster Library -- About the Library

Mission

The mission of the Foster Library is to contribute to the academic and research activities of the graduate students, faculty and staff in the Department of Economics by providing materials and an environment that offer opportunities for discussion, interaction, and convenient and casual contact with subject literature.

Collection

Foster Library maintains a core collection of journals, working papers and books in economics.  The collection includes:

  • Papers from more than 250 working paper series
  • Dissertations completed in the Department of Economics
  • A collection of approximately 5000 books, many donated by faculty, reflecting the varied research interests of the department.  Materials are listed in the Foster Library catalog.
  • Copies of the New York Times, the Economist, and the Wall Street Journal
  • Course reserves material placed by faculty for their classes
