Services

Fine Arts Library services include circulation, reference and research consultations, library instruction, and course reserves for all History of Art course. We assist patrons with book, article and image searches, Library 2 Library, MGet It and recall requests. 

Circulation

The Fine Arts Library contains circulating, restricted, and non-circulating materials. Patrons may review what they have checked out by logging into Mirlyn. and checking My Account.  For more information, view the Fine Arts Library Circulation Policies and the general UM Library Circulation Policies.

New Students and faculty members should verify their library privileges by contacting a Circulation Desk in the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library on Central Campus or at the Reserves Desk in the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library on North Campus before coming to the Fine Arts Library.

Reference & Research Consultations

Professional reference and research consultation services are available on weekdays from 10 AM to 5 PM. Inquiries may also be directed by phone, 734-764-5405, or email. For answers to general reference questions after hours please consult the Ask a Librarian service.

Library instruction

Library Instruction services are offered to faculty, staff, and student groups as well as individuals in the use of online and print resources in the visual arts.

Reserves

The Fine Arts library provides Open, Closed, and Electronic Reserves for all History of Art  courses and selected other courses. See reserves information for more details and to place a request.

Searches

If a book is not found in the stacks, and Mirlyn does not indicate an alternate location, a search request may be submitted at the Circulation Desk.

Copying, Printing, Scanning, and Wireless Computing

The Fine Arts Library has a printer-scanner, a color printer, 2 black and white printers, and 3 desk scanners. These are maintained by SITES.  The Fine Arts Library is equipped for wireless computing.

Buhr Requests*

This service is free of charge and allows books to be sent from the Buhr Shelving Facility to be picked up at any University Library. Please submit you request via the Mirlyn Get This feature.

Library to Library Delivery*

This service is free of charge and allows books to be sent from one library to another. Please process a request through the Mirlyn Get This feature.

Holds & Recalls*

This service allows you to request items that are currently checked out. Please process a request through the Mirlyn Get This feature.

*Once a book comes in from any of these services, it is placed on the Hold Shelf behind the Circulation Desk for ten days. Patrons are encouraged to retrieve items promptly.
