A program as well as a facility, the Faculty Exploratory was designed specifically for faculty at the University of Michigan to enhance lecturing, research and publishing skills. Whether you already use technology and just need a few tips or are just starting out and need a whole new skill set, you can take hands-on workshops, setup an appointment, or just stop in and say, HELP! Whether you want to develop a course web page, design a PowerPoint presentation, or access an email attachment, just ask. Exploratory consultants are available in-person as well as via telephone (647-7406) and email (exploratory@umich.edu) to answer your questions about computer technology and software. The Exploratory is generally open from 9am to 5pm, but please check the Library hours page for changes during breaks and so on. Set up an appointment or drop in during open hours to explore new software or work on a particular project. And, after you are comfortable with the basics, you are welcome to continue your project at the Exploratory-knowing there is a consultant nearby to answer your questions and provide additional assistance if needed. In addition, departments can arrange for sessions on any workshop topic specifically for their faculty - just email exploratory@umich.edu for more information. The Exploratory is a member of the Teaching and Technology Collaborative and is located on the second floor of the Hatcher Graduate Library, behind the information desk and next to the Knowledge Navigation Center (KNC). |
