Paulina L. Alberto, U-M associate professor of history, Spanish, and Portuguese, talks about her latest book — a history of black thought and racial activism in twentieth-century Brazil. She demonstrates that black intellectuals, and not just elite white Brazilians, shaped discourses about race relations and the cultural and political terms of inclusion in their modern nation.
The Author's Forum is a collaboration between the U-M Institute for the Humanities, University Library, Great Lakes Literary Arts Center, & Ann Arbor Book Festival.
