In Fall 2011 the University undertook an eTextbook initiative to address the rising cost of textbooks and engage with next generation technology to enhance student learning. Earlier this year, we hosted four campus vendor demonstrations to select an eTextbook delivery platform for campus. Thank you to all faculty, staff, and students who participated in this process and provided feedback.
Since the vendor demonstrations, an opportunity has arisen for UM to collaborate with other institutions through the Internet2 consortium. We will pursue this opportunity in lieu of selecting a single platform for campus at this time. UM will participate in a 2013 pilot using Courseload and publisher content from McGraw Hill and Pearson. Additional content may be available as publisher negotiations continue.
Details about the pilot and a call for participation will be available in August.
