This tablet preserves early writing exercises. On the one side (recto), the alphabet, first in the normal order, then backwards, then in a combination of the two orders (first, last, second, penultimate, third, antepenultimate... or a, v, b, c, g...), with a few mistakes. This would be like writing 'a, z, b, y, c, x, d, w...' in English.

On the other side (verso), each of the seven Greek vowels is written in conjunction with the consonants in their alphabetic order in such a fashion that the syllables are formed by placing the same consonant before the vowel. This type of document is called a syllabary.

Part of Column II reads like this:
βηβ (bēb)
βιβ (
bib)
βοβ (
bob)
βυβ
(bub)
βωβ
(bōb)
Note that βοβ was forgotten and added between two lines.
