General Information | Class Descriptions
The Dentistry Library sponsors a number of open classes for UM faculty, students and staff each term to be held in the CAIDENT Center. Registration is required. Classes with less than six participants may be cancelled with 24 hours notice. To register for any of the classes listed below, please phone the Circulation Desk at 764-1526, or e-mail dentistry.library@umich.edu.
Introductory UM-MEDSEARCH
This class orients participants to the the basic search features of UM-MEDSEARCH, which provides access to the MEDLINE, HealthSTAR, AIDSLINE, CINAHL, and CANCERLIT databases as well as over 70 full-text journals. Enrollment is limited to 12 per session.
Advanced UM-MEDSEARCH
Learn to use some of the advanced searching features in UM-MEDSEARCH. This workshop will cover shortcuts to bypass menus, use command line searching, verify references, and to locate clinical and practice guidelines literature. Participants should have prior experience using UM-MEDSEARCH. Enrollment is limited to 12 per session.
Introductory Image Scanning
Learn the basics of scanning images, editing them using Photoshop and choosing an appropriate file format for use in web pages, presentations, and word processing documents. Enrollment is limited to six per session.
Dental Resources on the Internet
With the multiplicity of resources on the Internet, how does one go about finding quality dental-related resources? This class introduces participants to HeathWeb: Dentistry and other resources that will help them find quality dental-related information on the Web.
