Alexander Street Press: Anthropology

Ethnographic Video Online contains over 1700 films, primarily ethnographic documentaries and interviews of anthropologists. The collection covers every region of the world and features the work of some of the most influential documentary filmmakers of the 20th century, including previously unreleased raw footage, field notes and study guides. Documentaries from key filmmakers such as John Marshall, Timothy Ash, Robert Gardner, David MacDougall, John Bishop, David Plath, and others provide long-term perspectives on the study of regions and cultures, as well as the historical development of documentary film itself. Each film includes a transcript. Clips and playlists can be created, saved and shared.  Videos can be downloaded to an Apple OS or Android phone, available to view for 48 hours.

This collection includes Ethnographic Video Volumes I, II and III.  Volume II provides an additional 450 films, including films from a number of new publishers and distributors such as the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI), ZED, and Documentary Educational Resources (DER). In  Ethnographic Video III the focus is on cultures of the Pacific.
