Copy Services

The University Library offers self-service copying services in more than a dozen libraries across campus.

The copiers are available all hours that the libraries are open, offering 8 1/2" x 11" copies at 6 cents per page using the University Mcard.   Copies made by students, faculty and staff are charged first against their free public printing allocation; if the printing allocation is exceeded, copies are charged at 6 cents per page.

Guests can purchase an MLibrary Copy Card, available in $2, $5 and $10 denominations. They are available for purchase at the main circulation desks of the Hatcher, Shapiro, Art, Architecture & Engineering, and Taubman Medical libraries.

To charge a copy card to a university short code, please use this card charge form. If you have lost a card charged to a university short code, please use this lost card form to report its loss.

Self-service digital Microform scanners are available in the Serials & Microforms Services Department of the Hatcher Graduate Library, in the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library, the Music Library and the Buhr Reading Room.   These digital microform scanners provide users the flexibility to scan and save electronic copies in PDF format to campus IFS space or flash drives in addition to printing to library or guest printers.

What about my old copy card?

Exchanges will be made only at the Circulation Desk of the Hatcher Graduate Library through the end of the Winter 2010 term.

  • Students can exchange the value on the "old" copy card for Blue Bucks.
  • Faculty, Staff, and Guests can exchange the value on the "old" copy card for an MLibrary copy card with equal value.
  • "Old" copy cards charged to a short code can be returned and the shortcode will be credited for the unused value.

Please note: We are currently transitioning from library card copiers to those that use the Mcard.  When in doubt, please contact circulation staff to verify where we still have the older style copiers in place. As of Oct. 31st, Mcard copiers are in place throughout the Hatcher and Shapiro libraries, and are being installed in the other libraries.
