Getting Around Ann Arbor

By Car

Parking in downtown Ann Arbor and on campus is challenging, but not impossible. If you're parking on campus, please be aware that the handicapped-accessible spots, faculty/staff designations, metered parking, and loading zones are enforced at all times. The City of Ann Arbor also vigorously enforces parking regulations and expired meters in non-campus areas.

By Bus

From the Sheraton Inn, it is about a one-block walk to Wolverine Tower at 3003 S. State Street and Eisenhower Boulevard, one of the University's office buildings. From the Wolverine Tower, you can catch the Wolverine Shuttle bus on Route 36 of the city's Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) service, which goes directly to Central Campus. Route 36 runs every 15 minutes and has a stop near the Michigan League, which is at 411 N. University Street. Fares on the AATA bus are 75 cents each way.

If you'd like to explore the University of Michigan, free bus service is available to North Campus on the blue campus “North Campus” and “Northwood” buses. There is a northbound campus bus stop on the southeast corner of Fletcher and Huron streets, in front of the Power Center, and another on North University Street just west of Washtenaw, alongside the Natural History Exhibit Museum. There are also campus buses labelled “Commuter” that travel around the Central and Athletic campuses. For more information on campus bus routes, consult the University Parking and Transportation Service's Web site.

By Taxi

Ann Arbor has several cab companies serving the city and campus area. In most cases, you will need to call in advance for a cab. Although many drivers will accept credit cards, you may wish to confirm acceptance when you call for a cab. The staff at your hotel may also assist you with getting a cab. A one-way trip between the Michigan League and the Sheraton Inn costs about $6, plus tip.

  • Ann Arbor Taxi Service: 734-214-9999
  • Blue Cab: 734-547-2222
  • Yellow Cab: 734-663-3355
