The Troubles of Too Much Technology in a Tight Space

So for awhile there, we thought we had a ghost in the archive. Or since it was a rogue television that kept turning off on its own, maybe we should refer to it as a ghost in the machine.

People would be innocently playing our PlayStation 3 near the service desk, when the the television would suddenly cut them off. So was it a TV poltergeist that had something against Sony?

Nope. Our Xbox One had recently been moved to the game station right next to the television in question, and its Kinect periperhal was the not-so-ghostly culprit.

Turns out the Xbox One's Kinect 2.0 has a built-in IR blaster, which sends out a signal each time the Xbox One is turned off. This signal then triggers the TV next to it to shut on and off.

So, we'll have to save the haunting stories for another time, although the logo and camera on the Kinect still looks a little like a set of eyes staring at me.

As a side note, I wonder if we can use this incident as a convincing argument to justify why the archive needs more space to spread out?
