Audubon Birds of America from the Special Collections Library
The University of Michigan’s Special Collections Library is an internationally renowned archive of books, serials, ancient and modern manuscripts, posters, photographs, pamphlets, and original artwork. It houses some of the most historically significant treasures at the University of Michigan and assists scholars from from around the world who use its materials as the primary basis of their research.

The Special Collections Library traces its founding to the 1890s, when the Library set off a secure area for its most valuable and fragile materials. It now holds more than 200,000 volumes of published materials and 5,000 linear feet of archives.
Watch for exhibits at the Special Collections Library on the 7th floor of the Hatcher Graduate Library’s south building– they are open to all.
