Carrie Luke, an Instructional Learning Specialist in the Learning and Teaching area, has just published an article she co-authored with two former colleagues from Eastern Michigan University in the latest edition of Computers and Composition, a special issue on Deploying 21st Century Writing on the Economic Frontlines. The article, entitled "Valuing the Resources of Infrastructure: Beyond From-Scratch and Off-the-Shelf Technology Options for Electronic Portfolio Assessment in First-Year Writing," addresses the importance of leveraging community expertise and free eportfolio tools to improve student learning without impacting the bottom line.

Andrew Mead, Professor of Music Theory, has a new essay titled "Time Management: Rhythm as a Formal Determinant in Certain Works of Elliott Carter." It appears in the new book from Cambridge University Press, Elliott Carter Studies (ML 410 .C3293 E68 2012).
Charles Garrett, professor of musicology, has an essay titled "The Humor of Jazz" in the book Jazz/Not Jazz: The Music and Its Boundaries (ML 3506 .J465 2012), a new publication from the University of California Press. Garrett is also co-editor of the volume.
