Nesting

Nesting keeps concepts that are alike together and tells a search engine to search the terms in parentheses first. Use parentheses to group concepts when you use two or more connectors.

sculpture AND (public OR outdoor)

Since public art is also called outdoor art, nesting will help cover both options. This search will retrieve records on public sculpture, as well as items on outdoor sculpture.
