What constitutes a request?

7FAST treats each citation as an individual request. Consecutive articles and book chapters are considered separate requests. If desired, title pages, copyright information and tables of contents can be included with an article or chapter.

How should I submit my request?

All requests should be submitted via ILLiad.

For material held at Askwith Media Library, please contact Askwith directly with your order before placing your 7FAST request. If they have not heard from you, they will not release material to us.

How many requests may I submit?

There is no limit to the number of requests we will accept. Please note that 7FAST can not assure a 2-day turnaround time for more than 5 requests per person, per day. If you submit an extensive list, please indicate any priority citations.

When requesting a lengthy article or multiple articles from a single source, please not that due to copyright restrictions 7FAST may have to limit the number of pages we can reproduce.

How do I use 7FAST for e-reserves requests?

Starting with Fall 2009, the University Library has changed how it supports electronic reserves. Requests for scanning articles and book chapters from library materials will be sent through the 7FAST system.

7FAST supplies scans in about two days, by posting them as a PDF to a secure website.

Then instructors or their proxies will move the scanned items to their CTools site for direct student access.  It is important to remember that, due to copyright restrictions, all scanned items, regardless of whether they are for course reserves or not, expire from our site after two weeks, and must be moved to CTools before then.

7FAST cannot scan non-library materials, and must adhere to certain copyright guidelines.  Please consult the Course Reserves FAQ for more information about scanning non-library material, physical reserves, and the transition.
